A little factoid:
The symbol of the lamp of knowledge is part of where we get the phase "burning the midnight oil" in reference to scholars studying late. Something these nursing graduates know well. Before Florence Nightingale style of nursing practice, patients would be left unattended all night in hospitals. Before the doctors would arrive staff would remove the dead and the floor work would begin. Miss Nightingale would walk the wards using a lamp each night to continue care for patients and deal with emergencies -saving many lives in the process. She became known by patients as the "Lady with the Lamp" The lamp became a symbol of Nursing as it grew into a trained vocation with professional training.
It is also associated with Florence Nightingale who would stay in the hospital all through the night, walking the wards with a lamp to check on and care for patients till the doctors returned in the morning. Her care saved countless patients as the profession of nursing was being created and perfected.

New RN
Just what my class needed for the pinning ceremony. As my class did not have money for printing the school logo, and name, these were perfect.
